Document Management
There are a number of regulatory & statutory legal bodies who demand that you keep and have access to historic business records. These include
- HM Revenue and Customs, including VAT
- Financial Services Authority
- The Information Commissioner
- The Courts (via the Government and acts of Parliament)
- The Health and Safety Executive
The list of requirements on businesses to keep historical data grows endlessly, and the implications of managing this badly are often ignored until the regulator, courts, or one of the other statutory bodies asks you a question that you are legally obliged to answer.
With recent changes to legislation, the Directors and Officers of a company can be held personally liable for the actions or inactions, of their company. This leaves increased levels of risk for a company to manage, and a good records management policy and team helps to minimise those risks.
Document Management means having a plan to control all of the documents your organisation creates, and storing them accurately, so you you can find them again. This activity is almost always better done by a specialist, than done in-house. Storguard’s systems are a significant tool in managing these legal requirements.
